Estates between forest and capital

Lisnyky

Lisnyky is a village with five centuries of history that borders Kyiv to the north, and a house in Lisnyky means an estate beside the forest of a national park. Here stand Castle Hill and the parish where Mykhailo Hrushevsky's grandfather served, while the neighbouring Lisnyky reserve has been part of Holosiivskyi National Park since 2007.

Character

Lisnyky is first recorded in 1498, and from 1596 it belonged to the Koretsky princes. Earthworks of their sixteenth- and seventeenth-century castle survive on Castle Hill. From 1836 to 1851 the local Transfiguration church was served by Fedir Hrushevsky, the historian's grandfather; his tombstone stands by the church, and the village has a monument to Mykhailo Hrushevsky.

Location

Lisnyky is part of Feodosiivska rural hromada in Obukhiv district. To the north it borders Kyiv, to the north-west Khotiv, and Koncha-Zaspa is about two kilometres to the east. For a homeowner that means work in the capital and quiet at home.

Forest and nature

Next door is the Lisnyky botanical reserve of national importance, more than a thousand hectares in the Vita river basin and part of Holosiivskyi National Park since 2007. On the southern edge, in Chernechyi Forest, pillboxes of the 1929–1935 Kyiv Fortified Region still stand.

The homes

Lisnyky means large plots, private residences and gated communities among the trees. People come here for an estate rather than just a house: a guest house, a pool, a pond, room to entertain. That is exactly what I represent here — a residence on nearly a hectare of land.

Schools and science

The village has its own school, Lisnyky Lyceum named after Mykhailo Hrushevsky, covering grades 1 to 12. On the outskirts stands the Lisnyky observation station of the Astronomical Observatory of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

Who it suits

Those who want an estate with forest beyond the fence and the capital close by, and families who value privacy above all. To be honest: for restaurants and large shops you will drive into Kyiv.
