A historic centre people actually live in
Golden Gate
The quarter around the Golden Gate, Yaroslaviv Val and Lvivska Square is the Kyiv people come to Kyiv for. There is neither suburban silence nor through-traffic noise here: this is where the city works, dines and walks. New premium buildings arrive one at a time, so each becomes an address in its own right.
Character
Mouldings on the façades, chestnut trees, galleries and cafés you reach on foot. The evening route runs from the Golden Gate to St Sophia — not as a tourist walk but as the way home.
The homes
Restored early twentieth-century buildings and a handful of new business- and premium-class complexes with underground parking. The upper floors are the prize: a view of cathedral domes and old-city roofs that no new district can reproduce.
Who it suits
Those who refuse to spend their life commuting: office, school, restaurant and theatre within a walk. And those who value an address that needs no explanation.
